The Rucner String Quartet launched the concert series entitled The Four Seasons in 2003 in order to celebrate the 25th anniversery of musical activity violoncellist Snježana Rucner and violist Dragan Rucner as well as the 5th anniversery of ensemble's career. The underlying concept of the series is to present at each concert, along with standard repertoire for string quartets, a certain number of quests and new work composed by a Croatian author, which has further motivated the Croatian composers to write new music dedicated to this ensemble. This sound recordings focuses on the artistic result achived by the new Croatian works performed in the first year of The Four Seasons.
At the same time, the recording documents the activity of the ensemble line-up. In the meantime, the quartet's line-up has been somewhat changed, since the ensemble has been joined by Sidonija Lebar on the first violin and Iva Kralj on the second violin.
