Composed in 2013, I ritoni, for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, quickly became a frequently performed and well-received work of the contemporary chamber repertoire. This work with its significant and suggestive title is structurally based on the ritornello form, both comprehensively – in the relationships between the movements, and individually – since each of the five movements is conceived as a ritornello.
This piece was premiered in 2014 by the ensemble Glazbene staze, and later performed by the mdi ensemble at the Music Tribune in Opatija (2016) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, as part of the Festival of Croatian Music in Vienna and the Female Composers from Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, and Serbia project. As part of the 60th Music Tribune in Osijek in 2023, the composition was performed by the Quasars Ensemble, while the Cantus Ensemble successfully presented it on recitals in Zagreb, Vienna and Cologne. I ritoni is featured on Sanda Majurec’s album in the Croatian Contemporary Composers series (Cantus, 2018).
