High Spirits was composed in 1999 for a Zagreb Guitar Trio performance on
April 20, 1999 at the Mimara Museum as part of the 20th Music Biennale Zagreb.
This Trio also recorded the piece for their High Spirits album
(Cantus CD 989 052 07192/2007).
In this piece, Sanja Drakulić explores the possibilities of the performing corps in an
atmosphere of restless character, repetition and ostinato, building musical content
on fluidity, vivid rhythm, variety of tonal colors and elaborately fleshed out
phrases, then finally bringing wistful hints of serenity.
