The two-part Meditation and Gambolero for guitar quartet is a composer’s tribute to the guitar, as well as a reflection of its two sides, which are expressed through two movements of opposite character. According to the author, the seemingly melodic and formally classical, harmonious expression brings “the harmony of the aleatoric chapters immersed in a ‘new’ expanded tonality that is modified in free atonality”. The composition was commissioned by the Osor Musical Evenings, where it was first performed on August 2, 2016 by members of the Croatian Guitar Quartet, Zoran Dukić, Petrit Çeku, Maroje Brčić and Tvrtko Sarić. A year later, the Quartet musicians received the Orlando Award at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, another national festival, for the concert that included this composition. Their album Bagatelles for Home Use (Cantus, 2023) contains a recording of this work.
