Katarina Kutnar, violin
Katarina Krpan, piano
About their joint, dreamy project, artists Katarina Krpan and Katarina Kuntar say: “The collaboration began when maestro Berislav Šipuš recorded a CD with his works, Together, and he chose us to record his composition Three Short Stories from the Blind Forest.
After that, we were participants at the Ferdo Livadić international competition in 2018, where we won and received the award for the best performance of a composition by a Croatian author, namely Šipuš’s Three Short Stories. We held recitals in Osor, Primošten, Grožnjan, Zagreb, and appeared on television, such as being part of Dobro jutro, Hrvatska (national morning show) and of a Christmas concert broadcast at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2020.
Due to the current situation, it was harder to organize the recording, because the agreed dates coincided with the first week of the lockdown in March, but as strange and unexpected as that year was, we managed to realize this little dream in the end.
The concept of this CD was to record works for violin and piano that are linked by the feature of dreams. Dreams can be something we strive for all our lives, but they can also be something that only comes to us for a moment, or simply exists in our imagination.
For the title of the CD, we decided on a slightly more modern variant, because this hashtag is our recognizable sign, and also a symbol of our cooperation: #kkkk.”
