Skender, Ivan Josip: Five Études for piano

The international competition Young Virtuosos – Études and Scales  that has comprised piano and violin disciplines alternatively since 1994.

 

In writing these études, I was guided by the issues that pianists of different generations must face. From the issues of hand coordination, through the fine mechanics, speed and double stops in the first three categories, then the chords and controlling of the inner melody in the fourth category all the way to abstract polyrhythmics and brilliant fast technique in the topmost category.

I have brought it all together led by the notion that pianists of all generations must have both the opportunity and the obligation to show their musicality, even when facing a technical issue.
