Silvije Bombardelli / composer, conductor / (Split, 3 March 1916 — Split, 1 October 2002) He studied violin and composition in Split and at the Stanković Music School in Belgrade. After graduation, he taught theoretical subjects at this school. He was a member of the Radio Belgrade Orchestra and the conductor of the RKUD Abrašević. He was one of the founders of the Novi Sad Theater and served as a conductor at this theater from 1939 to 1941. In 1942 he joined partisans, and after the WWII he was the conductor and manager of the Split Opera. From 1948–1952 he was the conductor of the Zagreb Philharmonic, and from 1952 once again the manager of the Croatian National Theater in Split (1953–1958), as well as the conductor and manager of its Opera section. He was one of the founders and planners of the Split Summer Events (1954). He is credited with giving the city its artistic countenance, as well as with organizing the concert life in Split. He was one of the founders of the RKUD Jedinstvo and its conductor. In addition to being a professor at the Teachers’ College, he was also a member of several professional associations and published articles on music.
