Kunc left copious traces of his composing in almost all musical domains and kinds save for the opera (which is actually rather strange, considering how intently he worked rehearsing operatic roles with his sister). He wrote concerti; the first interpreter of his two marvellous violin concerti was the celebrated Croatian violinist Zlatko Baloković, while the autograph of the second is kept in the estate of the great violinist Nathan Milstein in New York. He composed a string of works for solo instruments, orchestral works, solo songs and chamber music.. ...

Most musicologists who have dealt with a reasonable amount of attention to Kunc’s musical oeuvre are in agreement that he reached the peak of his composing in the piano miniature. Here there are real masterpieces in which contemporary pianistic technique is fully at the service of the spirit, a microcosm of the most subtle vibrations of the soul. Sometimes they are little explosions of virtuosity, apotheoses of the rhythm of the dance, helterskelter passages and vehement movement; sometimes refined tonal formations, intimate and intensely felt confessions of characteristic mood.
