... the selection of works in this edition which includes Croatian music pieces written within a relatively short period of time, from 1977 to 1989, with only one work (Intimate madrigals by Željko Brkanović) written considerably later - in 2003. Interesting fact is that four of the six recorded works on this CD - selected not only to call attention to the artistic level of choral compositions in the fi nal decades of the 20th century in Croatia, but also to illustrate particular stylistic interests of Croatian composers of the time - were written within just two years, yet they reveal freest musical language, and are preoccupied with human voice in a manner which steps out of the traditional understanding of handling human voice in a music piece. This is, naturally, related to the then composers’ preoccupations in which Croatian music more or less followed European trends. ...
