The Brkanović compositions on this compact disk will certainly provide us with a microscopic insight into the way he treated the folk music material. The fine nuances of this treatment, not only from composition to composition, but also within the individual pieces, will inform us of the ways of his creative ripening that, I would think, might in a special way add certain new details to the determination of the national style in Croatian 20th century music, a

segment of that music that, as we have seen, can once again be deemed unexplored to the end, however much just the opposite might seem true to us.
