First Collection of Études for piano by the contemporary Croatian composers (Adalbert Marković, Berislav Šipuš, Ivo Josipović, Zlatko Tanodi and Stanko Horvat) comprimes a 17 very successful compositions written for the international competition Études and scales. "Études – studies were composed with two basic goals: the first, to define a certain technical task for a competitor and the second, bit not less important, to enrich both the Croatian and world piano literature. Along with markedly lyrical études, with a cantilena which involves and develops a considerably important ability to perform legato, this Collection contains interesting études with scales, chords, minor and major broken chords, octaves and repetitions. Due to their extensiveness and diversity these études will give impetus and provide a valuable help in technical as well as musical improvement of each student, a future musicians.” (Jelica Kuzmin, Music teacher)
